Routes with height profiles

We have routes to suit everyone, from real tough challenges to a more relaxed cycling experience that still requires a bit of effort.

Here you will find a short description of some of the tours and an example of a holiday week cycling.   We arrange tours for all levels of riders and the times shown below are based on MTB cycling with moderate experience.

Kalavasos Mine Tour

Up among the many hills around Kalavasos with a beautiful view over the dam. Then down to the old mine by a single track winding at the verge of a hill with a spectacular view over the hilly landscape. The way back on an old railroad and through a riverbed bordered with 5 m high reed will complete the tour. This tour has two loops, one short one longer.

Distance: 20 km
Time: 2 h

White Cliffs Tour

After a short uphill we are easy rolling along a riverbed lined with dense bushes and cliff walls and an amazing view up at the surrounding hills. After the last uphill it’s all along down to the sea over a hill covered with thyme and its lovely fragrant fills your nostrils. When passing the crest of a short hill the sparkling sea welcomes you and the shore line are bordered with white cliffs gleaming in the warm sunshine light.

Distance: 36 km Time: 3,5 h

Stone-pit Single Tracks

The route starts along a riverbed and then a climb up to an altitude of 400 m. Here starts the down hill section all the way to the sea level. It goes over dual tracks as well as over single tracks and through olive groves and at the verge of a deep gorge along goat tracks surrounded by thorny bushes. This is a very spectacular tour well worth to make.

Stone Track

This tour starts with a short transfer to a small village just outside Limassol. There starts the climbing through pine woods on winding gravel roads up to the top. A breathtaking view welcomes us at the top with a view over the sea and the surrounding hills, far away is Limassol glimmering in the sunshine. Over the edge and down we go for about 3,5 km on a stony track with a lot of drops and tricky switchbacks. This is one of the best tracks on Cyprus. Down at sea level we stop at one of the many coffee shops at the Limassol seafront for a well deserved coffee and refreshment.

Distance: 40 km
Time: 4-5 h

Weekly packages

Here you will find a short description of a tour package provided during a week’s cycling holiday.   We arrange tours for all levels of riders and the tours shown below are based on MTB cycling with moderate experience.  But have in mind that some days you will spend 6-8 hours on your bike.

We start the week by familiarising ourselves with testing our abilities to ensure everyone is comfortable with equipment and bike.  The goal at the end of the week is to ride up to the mountain mine shaft Macheras and the close by mountain Kionia to be rewarded with the most amazing and brilliant downhill riding route Cyprus can offer. It is truly exhilarating!

Next day we go further afield amongst Cyprus’s hilly landscape and climb up and down on unmade gravel roads before we start the climb on Stavrovouni Mountain.  The top of this mountain lies at 650 m above sea level and here you will find a beautiful old monastery.  It is one of the oldest monasteries in Cyprus and is believed to stem from some time in the 4th century when it was founded by Saint Helena, mother to Alexander the Great.  When you reach the top you are greeted by amazing views, when on a clear day you can see both Larnaca and Limassol and here you can really take onboard how hilly the Cyprus landscape really is.  We go over and around all these small hills on our route back riding through olive groves and often herds of sheep that suddenly appear in the road!

This day we take a slightly longer tour with more uphill’s on beautiful winding gravel roads and some tarmac roads, almost completely free of cars.  The goal for today is to arrive at a small village with a picturesque market square and church, bar and police station, all within a 50 mtr radius of each other.  Here we will stop for a snack to add some well earned calories and then we continue our downhill ride on winding forest roads.  This tour offers many alternatives so we can choose any direction ride back.  If you wish you can cycle up a bit further and loop round a couple of times on a track ridden by international XC competition riders.

Today we will take it a bit easier, to prepare for a very challenging day tomorrow when we will need our bodies and legs to be on top form. Today we will cycle along the sea on small paths and roads before turning into the countryside riding on small tarmac roads and through villages.  We will ride through vegetable farms, olive groves, vine yards and orange plantations where the trees grow so close along the road that you could easily reach out and pick an orange.  We wind our way through the villages and return on gravel roads back to base.

The Big Finale!  Today we ride the nearest route up on a smaller tarmac roads  towards our ‘pit stop’ village to stretch our legs and have a snack.  After this it is all uphill, ok it’s been uphill all the way until now but this is even more uphill.  We pedal hard on these fantastically winding and changeable gravel roads through shaded pine forests and sunny mountain cliffs with flowing streams in the valleys below us and even flow across our roads occasionally.  On this tough climb, now is the time to allow yourself to imagine how amazing the down hill will be.  When we round the last bend we are up 1250mtr above sea level and from now on it is all down hill.  We make a quick stop to enjoy the view of the mountain tops, valleys and the cities in the distance.

Now it is time to reap the rewards for all those uphill climbs! Cyprus’ best down hill path awaits, all 7.5 km with a descent of 650mtr – it is truly amazing.  After this breathtaking descent even more down hill paths await in beautiful countryside and the route back to base will be an unforgettable experience to take back home.

If you haven’t had enough of cycling we can arrange further tours for you, or maybe you just want to take a dip in the pool and relax with a bit of sunbathing.  Maybe you want a trip to town for a bit of shopping and just soak up the atmosphere in the local town.
